In the Year 2889 Jules Verne
In a world where people travel through pneumatic tubes and flying trains and still don't
marvel the grandness of it all. For them it is commonplace. This book talks
about a little bit of history in their time and a little bit of comparison to
their time and our time or even earlier. Later in the book a man is going to be
defrosted from cryogenic like conditions. He put himself into these conditions
because he is a strong believer in human hibernation. In the last few sentences
it merely states that he will be awakened at a very successful man’s house. It
is unclear whether he lives or not. I enjoyed this story because it applied a
lot of concepts that we currently consider very futuristic. It also applies
many concepts currently spotlighted by media. The only negative thing that I
can say about this story is that it jumps around from character to character a
lot and gets fairly confusing.
